A collection inspired by my family history, it tells a tale through shipwrecks to manslaughter, the relatives I lost to the great blue. Encapsulating the ghostly shells of my former grandfather rising from the waves, the dead man walking out from the ocean from the wreckage.
Stories I had been told from my relatives of the sea captain that controlled the seas, commanding ships from a young boy becoming one with the water, the foreshadow that would shake our family to its core.
I created this collection from 100% silks, focusing on bridal fabrics for their fluidity, sheerness, and exclusivity. Along with luxury faux fur being from Finland fur is a natural component of our winter wardrobe and a main feature of ship life. Along with hand braided and woven 100% waxed cotton ropes, as well as straw broken and hand moulded. I combined the luxury with the unconventional wanting the opposition to compete with one another to create an unnatural harmony.
